Emily is a dedicated international Chinese-language educator with a Master’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from East China Normal University, one of China’s leading teacher-training universities. She brings more than 13 years in the Chinese classroom — six years teaching junior-high Chinese in top public and private schools, followed by eight years of frontline teaching in IBDP Language and Literature and IGCSE Chinese.
She currently serves as Head of Chinese at an IB World School, teaching IBDP Chinese A: Language and Literature at both SL and HL, and takes part in official IBO training every year to keep her teaching aligned with the latest syllabus and assessment standards. Beyond Chinese A, Emily also holds an IB Chinese B teaching certification, and is gradually opening her practice to non-native learners as well.
For Emily, language was never just an exam skill. Close-reading a passage, unpacking an advertisement, comparing two literary works — these are all ways of training how a student sees the world. She believes a genuinely high-scoring response comes from rigorous thinking and honest mentorship, not memorised formulas.
